High Performance 802.11n: Enabling an All-Wireless Campus
The fast, open, and reliable dissemination of information is the life-blood of a university. Aruba's high speed 802.11n wireless LAN technology gives faculty, staff, and students instant, reliable access to servers, lectures, streaming videos, on-line exams, and the Internet. And does so with substantive ease-of-use, performance, and interoperability advantages over competing solutions.
Our adaptive 802.11n wireless LANs automatically optimize themselves to reliably and securely deliver high speed data, toll-quality voice, and streaming video. Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) technology automates wireless LAN set-up and maintenance, and tunes the network in real-time to accommodate user behavior, interference, and nearby networks. ARM features include:
- Airtime fairness to ensure that slower 802.11b/g clients have minimal impact on high speed 802.11n clients in lecture halls, auditoriums, and other venues with densely deployed clients, e.g., 100 clients per access point;
- Co-channel interference management for the highest possible throughput in the presence of nearby access points and RF transmitters;
- Intelligent client steering to provide high speed clients with access to the greatest available bandwidth by associating them with the best band, channel and access point.
Recent interoperability tests validated the efficacy of ARM - laptops containing wireless radio chip sets from Atheros, Broadcom, and Intel delivered the highest throughput with Aruba's 802.11n solution compared with three competing wireless LANs. The results are presented in a technical brief, 802.11n Client Throughput Performance, that can be downloaded from http://www.arubanetworks.com/pdf/technology/TB_11NPERF.pdf.
Whether you need to deliver tests to an auditorium filled with students, share laboratory results with colleagues across campus, or monitor campus-wide security video, we have an 802.11n wireless LAN solution to meet your needs.
Need to migrate from a legacy network to a new Aruba 802.11n solution? Aruba's AirWave Wireless Management Suite can manage legacy wireless networks from more than 16 different suppliers all from a single, easy-to-use console. Migrate from old to new on a schedule - and budget - that works best for you. One management platform does it all.
Not ready to move to 802.11n just yet? We offer a line of 802.11a/b/g access points that can be upgraded over-the-network to enable 802.11n Draft2.0 dual-radio operation. Prepare today for a future migration to 802.11n without incurring the cost of an immediate upgrade.
Have off-site facilities, or travelling researchers, in need of secure remote network access? Aruba's Remote Access Point (RAP) technology automatically establishes a secure encrypted tunnel to satellite campuses, remote research labs, off-site seminars without the hassle of managing any client software. Centrally managed to lower IT overhead, RAP technology allows researchers and administrators to access the campus network from across town or across the globe.
Aruba's unified mobility solutions bring the campus network to users wherever they work or roam. Contact us for details and to set-up an on-site meeting to review your networking requirements.
